Piranha's Patented System Offers an Alternative Approach to Propeller Repair

Fewer and Fewer of the things you buy these days are things you can fix if they happen to break. Many have "No user serviceable parts" or "Authorized service access only" either written or implied on their surface. Boat propellers have always been this way, at least until the Piranha Propeller became available.

In the past a propeller could often be repaired by welding, heating, beating and bending it back into shape in cases of light to mild damage. A skilled prop shop could do this once or twice before the prop had to be tossed. Wile they were at it they could change the pitch of the prop a little as well. The costs weren't as much as a new prop, but you'd have to send it out, wait and pay shipping there and back if you didn't have a local shop.

Piranha Propellers changed all this by developing a prop with user replaceable blades, completely revolutionizing boat propeller repair. Damage can be repaired by the boat owner, on the spot, instead of a shop and usually at less cost. The propeller can also be repaired an unlimited number of times as well since the replacement blades are always new virgin material.

During the propeller repair process, the pitch on most propellers can be changed to obtain better performance if necessary. How much you can change the pitch depends on what type of material your propeller is made from. As you can see the Piranha Concept allows the greatest range of alteration.

• Aluminum propellers can be changed two (2") inches up or down in pitch.
• Bronze propellers can be changed two (2") inches up or down in pitch.
• Stainless Steel can be changed one (1") inch up or down. We do not recommend changing the propeller pitch any more than one (1") inch.
• Piranha Propeller can have their pitch changed between 5" pitch to 24" pitch depending on the specific propeller application. In most cases the alterable range is approximately 10".
